General Situation of Zouping Economic Development Zone

Zouping Economic Development Zone was marked out in the August of 2001. In the June of 2003, it was authorized by the provincial government as a provincial-level development zone. The planned area of the development zone is 40 square kilometers, with the built-up area to be 23 square kilometers and 125 thousand people work in it. In 2007, the gross industrial output value of the development zone was 55.4 billion yuan, the industrial added value was 15.5 billion yuan and the value of import and export was 1.45 billion dollars, including 890 million dollars of the value of export and the development zone was designated as the “Scientific Development Demonstration Zone” in the whole province. In addition, it was appraised by the provincial government as the “Advanced Development Zone” for four successive years.
The geographical location and transportation of the development zone are very good. In the west, it is 67 kilometers to Jinan, the capital city of Shandong Province; in the east, it is 20 kilometers to Zibo and the distance between it and Jinan International Airport is only 45 kilometers. Jinan-Qingdao Expressway goes through the zone and the freight transportation railway that leads directly to the area has also been put into use.
The investment environment of the development zone is excellent. All the necessary infrastructures such as road, water supply, drainage, power, heat, natural gas, communication pipes and broadcasting networks are installed and basically reached the requirement of“nine connections and one leveling”. Some administrative service centers are also established in the development zone and all the 28 enterprise affairs related government departments in the whole county have set up offices in the zone so as to provide “one-stop” service to all the enterprises in the area and create a favorable atmosphere of being “Kind to Investors, Love Investors, Protect Investors and Enrich Investors”.
Textile and costume, thermoelectricity and metallurgy, food and medicine are the mainstay industries of the development zone. Weiqiao Textile Company Limited, the largest cotton textile and manufacturing enterprise is located in the development zone. The resources as thermoelectricity and aluminium are also very rich in the area. At present, the installed capacity of thermoelectricity in the development zone is 1.25 million kilowatt, the annual output of aluminium oxide is 1.60 million tons and that ofelectrolytic aluminium is 400 thousand tons.
The key fields of inviting investment of the area are textile, costume, home textiles, manufacturing of textile machinery, the advanced processing and product development of aluminium products, the development of the serial products of new wall material sintered from fly ash and shale, the building of five-star hotels and the construction of bonded and logistic centers projects.
